The Directorate for Engineering and Sciences offers extended/national/advanced and higher national diploma programmes that prepare trainees for career in the engineering and information technology industry. CIVIL ENGINEERING DIVISION

The programmes offered in the Civil Engineering Division are designed to prepare trainees to work effectively as technicians in the construction industry and to meet the growing local demand for skilled manpower in the industrial and civil engineering construction sectors. The courses have been chosen carefully keeping in view the industrial requirements and the international curricula. Further, majority of the course content is of practical nature to enable trainees to gain the necessary skills.

INSTRUMENTATION AND CHEMICAL DIVISION 

The aim of the Instrumentation and Chemical Division is to meet the expanding demand of trained manpower in Bahrain and contribute to the process of Bahrainisation. Since Instrumentation and chemical technologies are evolving fields with new developments taking place continually, consumers of these technologies in Bahrain need skilled human resources capable of handling the latest equipment. The division provides training services to all possible clients in Bahrain, from school-leavers to business and industrial organizations.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

IT Academy offers BTEC Programmes at the Extended Diploma (ED) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels and a range of internationally accredited courses in the IT fields of Systems Development and Networking Systems Support. It focuses on providing trainees with the skills and experience that will prepare them for employment and provide career development opportunities for those already in work.

MATH AND SCIENCE DIVISION

Math and Science Division is a service division that offers different Mathematics and Science courses/units to other divisions offering various qualifications/programmes. Although the division does not offer any qualifications/programmes, it shares BTI’s vision to be recognized as the leading vocational education and training provider in the region striving to be a learning institution of excellence. Moreover, Math and Science Division provides its learners the scientific and mathematical knowledge and skills necessary to work in today’s fast paced and highly industrialized society. The division does not only cater to Engineering Division but also to Business, Arts, IT and Corporate divisions. Most of the Math and Science courses are delivered in the Engineering division and only few to other divisions due to the nature of the engineering specializations. Math courses/units, such as Basic Math and Numeracy, were developed as bridging courses designed for trainees who need further support in understanding and learning mathematics. Further, these units were created to reinforce trainees’ previously acquired mathematical knowledge and skills before they enter the ED or NQF Programmes of their choice.

MECHANICAL AND MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION

The primary objective of the division is to train trainees to meet the requirements of the global market. The division practices quality teaching, research and its applications in the Mechanical and Motor Vehicle disciplines. Its curricular structure integrates the use of modern technologies in engineering through the latest CAD/CAM packages. It ensures that trainees have strong vocational education background coupled with technical, people, leadership, and management skills.
